KBH Applications

Professional Configuration of XP: If necessary click or navigate through Start, Settings, Taskbar and Start Menu, Start Menu, and then select Classic Start menu. Now the My Computer icon should appear on the desktop and so double click the My Computer icon. Continue to double click C: and then if a graphic appears that hides the directory structure find the click point on the graphic that removes the graphic.

Additional Notes: The above configuration of XP allows working with simple or minor applications similar to working with documents in My Documents. So simple applications might be installed in something like C:\Applications rather than in C:\Program Files or rather than in My Documents. Or folders similar to user folders created in My Documents can be created in C:\ as well as in My Documents. Also the computer user will find additional control over CD and DVD drives within My Computer.

My Documents: Now the desktop icon for My Documents might represent a directory location something like C:\Documents and Settings\[vendor notation]\My Documents. So attempting to install an application into the My Documents directory location may be difficult or confusing if not browsing the directory structure.

Final Note: Alternately a link to My Computer might simply be added to the Start Menu programs list.
